Trains to Sarajevo:

As example travel route, bellow we used London, UK to Sarajevo:

London to Sarajevo route : Take train from London to Zagreb (Croatia) and change following day for train to Sarajevo. Sarajevo is served by daily train service from Zagreb. Trains are departing at 08.57. Arrival in Sarajevo is at 17.58. There is also night train departing Zagreb at 20.45 arriving in Sarajevo at 05.30 following day.
Sarajevo - London route : Take train from Sarajevo to Zagreb and Chiang following day for train from Zagreb to London. Daily departure is at 10.41am. Arrival in Zagreb is 19.47.

A very good web site to research train travel is German site Die Bahn where one can search for timetables for most of the journey in Europe, including journeys to Sarajevo. Die Bahn, a searchable web site for train journeys around Europe - includes fares too - check for latest train info and services. If you are traveling by train from other west european destinations, to reach Sarajevo you would probably need to change your train in Zagreb (Croatia).

To reach Sarajevo from Belgrade, according to current timetable, you would need to leave Belgrade ( Beograd) at 15.30. Arrival in Sarajevo is following day at 05.30. This journey lasts about 14 hours.
To travel by train from Sarajevo to Beograd, departure is daily too - departure Sarajevo at 20.32 arrival in Beograd 06.30 ( following day)

Although there is a train connection (via Beograd) between these two cities, there is no direct connection, so the journey will last about 21 hours. You would be better off to use bus connection instead.
