Kozara National Park

Kozara National Park MapKozara became protected national forest and national park in 1967. It is located between the rivers Una, Sava, Sana  and Vrbas in the northwest part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It covers about 3.5 hectares of dense forest and hilly meadows of the central part of mountain Kozara.

Kozara is a lovely place to do walking and hiking as well as enjoying the nature. Lisina is the highest peak of the park at just bellow 1000 meters. It offers a panoramic views of the surrounding hills. The Memorial area of the Park, located on Mrakovica, has monument and museum. In near vicinity is Mostanica – an orthodox monastery. Kozara is also hunting ground for deer, pheasants, fox, boars, wild hare, and ducks. In the winter months a mini ski lifts works and ski rental is available too.

There is a hotel and restaurant in the national park complex.

To reach National Park Kozara by public transport, use bus that runs daily from Banja Luka to Prijedor.

Once in Prijedor, take short ride taxi to Kozara as there is no public transport that does this route (Taxi will cost around 20 KM)
